Bayo Akintewe a 66 year old sex offender has recently been exposed by the Ekiti State Ministry of Justice in a bid scare away others who may be intending to carry out such an evil act.
A statement from the State Justice Ministry disclosed that "The Ekiti State Ministry of Justice, today published published the details of another sex offender. He is Bayo Akintewe a 66-year-old man resident in Ado-Ekiti. Akintewe was convicted by a High Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti for the rape of a 16 year old girl [identity withheld]."
According to a statement from the office of the Ekiti State Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Olawale Fapohunda, the publication is in line with the 'name and shame sex offenders policy' of the Ekiti State Government.
"In addition to naming and shaming, persons convicted of sex offences will not benefit from the governor's powers of the prerogative of mercy and will, therefore service the full term of their prison sentence."
"Ekiti State is currently reviewing the sex offences provisions in its Criminal Code Law with a view of achieving effective prosecution of sex offenders. Under the new proposals the offence of rape will on conviction attract life imprisonment," the statement read in part.
The state was the first state in the country to open a sex offenders register. One believes that with this people will desist from such inhuman and criminal act.
One hopes that intending sex offenders will learn from this and will not allow themselves to be used by Satan.
