N40Bn Probe: "Pondei" Narrate The Reason Why He Walked Out On Reps

The Nigeria’s House of Representatives has arranged the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu, to speed up the arrest and probe the Acting Managing Director (MD) of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Professor Kemebradikumo Daniel Pondei, for what it described as ‘contempt of the legislature’.

We in the NDDC is not comfortable with the Chairman of this committee, presiding over a matter.

It was established from the previous sitting that the IMC recklessly spent N81.5bn from the coffers of the Commission from February to May 2020 without due process.

He further explain the reasons for his action.

We have no issue of appearing, we appeared before the Senate ad hoc committee and as long as he remains, we will not make any presentation,”

He is an accused party, the NDDC has over time accused Rep. Olubumi Tunji-Ojo of different crimes against the NDDC and he has responded in the press.

He is an interested party and we do not believe that the NDDC can have justice because he cannot seat on his own case he said.

Irked by the walk-out, spokesperson for the House, Benjamin Kalu, moved a motion invoking section 89 of the 1999 constitution (as amended), to issue a warrant of arrest.
