A criminal offence committed in Ibadan by one officer Elijah Oyewale O. of the Nigerian Police force on the 14th day of July 2020, a lady has @ruggedyBaba to thank for coming to her rescue.
According reports an Ibadan police officer Elijah Oyewale O. on thev14th of July 2020 around 1600hr in the afternoon illegally arrested and extorted the sum of ten thousand naira (#10,000) from miss Omowunmi through a mobile transfer with reasons that she was not properly dressed.
According to reports she was arrested at New Akala Express Way just before Taskla filling station in Ibadan.
While miss Omowunmi was awaiting to enter the Uber taxi she ordered for, nearby police officer started shouting and raising their guns that was she was putting on wear not good and that they were revealing her body.As she could not bear the harassment, humiliation and emotional trauma after transferring the money, she took to her Twitter handle to narrate her experience specifically tagging along @ruggedman demanding for justice.
In the course of the event they bundled her into their van, threatened her while driving off, they however forcefully demanded that she gave them the sum of twenty thousand naira (#20,000) after several negotiations with the Force men they agreed to collect the ten thousand naira (#10,000) she could offer. After off an account of an unknown officer was provided (Union Bank account number 0079326615).This criminal act drew the attention of well-meaning Nigerians like Segalinks and @Ruggedman who came to her rescue by speaking up and tagging the ACP Ishaku and the Nigerian Police force until justice was served.
The popular singer and song writer @ruggedybaba intervened immediately thereby getting the attention of the right persons through his Twitter handle.The lady was finally refunded her money through DPO Oriya while the police officer Elijah Oyewale is still under serious investigation.
After regaining her money, the said lady couldn't hold her joy as she went back to thank the man who saved her day. She had this to say:
My question is what if the girl was resisting arrest?
What if she wasn't calm enough to negotiate with the police man?
What if there was no social media?
She maybe dead by now!
Don't argue a man with gun!
