See the area in Ibadan where people sell and buy stolen goods

Sabo is a very popular term used when explaining Hausa community in a foreign land. Sabo in Ibadan, located around Mokola and Jemibewon road axis, the Hausa annex of the city popularly called Sabongari or Sabo for short is in sharp contrast to the rest of the city, with its old sparse buildings and peculiar culture, bursting out onto the streets. From the fragrant smells of Suya (meat kebab) roasting on spits to calls for prayers ringing through the neighborhood, this part of town is an intriguing multifaceted destination especially when commerce is concerned.

 

Apart from Bureau de change, beggars, Kilishi and Suya, Gold, Tailoring, Phones and Electronics, the Sabo Community in Ibadan are also known to be buying and selling stolen goods.

 

Many cases of stealing had been reported at the Mokola Police Station, where those people stolen from located their stolen properties in Sabo under auctioning, known and unknown to the sellers that the properties were stolen.

 

After several raids by the Police, When stolen goods like furniture, Cars, generators, frdge, air conditioners are bought, the buyers would change the physical outfit of such stolen goods bought and give it a new look different from the earlier appearance from when it was bought.

 

Phones are now the market of the day. Stolen phones are sold at any rates in Sabo. Sometimes a phone bought by the user at the rate of 100,000, when it comes to Sabo, it can be sold for just 30,000 or 20,000 mainly because it was a stolen good.
