On Friday a 32-year-old man identified as Aboh Ogbeche committed suicide at his family home in Lawanson, Lagos State's Surulere district.
Aboh was said to have drunk bleach, even though there was nothing to suggest that he was trying to commit suicide, sources said.
It was noticed that the perpetrator poured the liquid in a cup, sat in front of his mum, gulped the substance and instantly started to convulse.
A close friend of the deceased said the mother, stunned by the incident, alerted the authorities and Aboh was quickly rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead.
"He came from the state of Cross River and was around 32. He collapsed about 3.30pm on Friday in his mum's presence after drinking a bottle of bleach. He was rushed to the Idi Araba Aishat Hospital where he died. His body was deposited in the mortuary at LUTH.
Do you think suicide is ever an option?
