1. 562 new COVID-19 cases recorded in Nigeria, total confirmed cases now 37,225.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control has reported 562 new cases of COVID-19 in the country, bringing the total number of active infections to 37,225.

Till date, 15,333 cases have been discharged and 801 deaths have been recorded in 35 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

The 562 new cases are reported from 21 states, namely: FCT-102, Lagos-100, Plateau-52, Kwara-50, Abia-47, Kaduna-35, Benue-34, Oyo-26, Ebonyi-24, Kano-16, Niger-15, Anambra-14, Gombe-12, Edo-11, Rivers-6, Nasarawa-5, Delta-5, Borno-3, Enugu- 2, Bauchi-2, Kebbi- 1.


2. A medical doctor, who is identified as Urenna Iroegbu, has lost her life after a commercial vehicle which she was in drove against traffic, resulting to an accident along Onne Road, Port Harcourt.

According to the PUNCH, The incident happened just two days after she completed her National Youth Service Corps programme.

It was also gathered that, Iroegbu graduated from Imo State University last year after spending eight years studying medicine.

It was revealed that, a lorry, which had the right of way, was said to have rammed into the vehicle which Iroegbu was in.


3. Mr Crusoe Osagie, the Special Adviser to the Edo State Governor on Media and Communication Strategy, has said the ex-national chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Adams Oshiomhole, is disappointed because Governor Godwin Obaseki refused to be used in his quest to become a godfather in the state.

Osagie, also made known via a statement that, the vituperation by Oshiomhole was just an expression of his frustration over his failure to achieve his goal to govern Edo State for a third term using Obaseki as a proxy.


4. A 35-year-old man, known as Maruf Ojo, has been jailed for one month by an Osun State Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ile-Ife for allegedly stealing plantain.

According to the PUNCH, the defendant, who stole bunches of plantain worth N55,000, pleaded guilty to the one count of stealing pressed against him by the police.

Sunday Osanyintuyi, who is the police prosecutor, revealed that the convict committed the offence, at Oke-Ora village, via Ile-Ife.
