The "Akupe" Traditional Hand Fan Held By Whitemoney Last Night Shows He Respects The Igbo Culture

Culture is a total way of one's life. When someone loves his or her culture to the extreme, the person showcases it anywhere and at anytime. The love of one's culture is clearly evident in what Hazel Oyeke Onou popularly known as "Whitemoney" did last night. I am of the opinion that Whitemoney held the "Akupe" traditional hand fan of the Igbos to publicly show he's a lover of the Igbo culture. Do recall here that he's an Igbo man who hails from Anambra state.

According to igbotique, the "Akupe" traditional hand fan is "a device for creating a current of air by movement of a surface or surfaces." This traditional hand fan of the Igbos is different from that of the Hausas or the Yorubas.

The "Akupe" traditional hand fan is used mostly by Igbo Chiefs and waved to people as a form of greeting them or showing how glad one is. After the season six Big Brother Naija's reality star (Whitemoney) winner was pronounced, he waved it to show how grateful he is for having the support of many Nigerians.

When Whitemoney was congratulated by the host (Ebuka Obi Uchendu) of the reality show, he happily exchanged the pleasantry by slowly hitting the "akupe" traditional hand fan on Ebuka's palm. An evidence to this is the picture provided below:

Whitemoney has taught the world that no matter what happens or any situation you find yourself, you should always be a lover or respecter of your culture because your culture is a definition of who you are or which character you possess.

Dear esteemed Readers, if you were Whitemoney last night, will you have showcased your culture to the world just as he did after being announced the winner? If yes, what makes you feel it is essential to showcase one's culture?
