5 beautiful building designs which can be found in Nigeria

For a building to be described as 'outstanding', it has to capture your attention and imagination immediately you look at it.

Buildings have standard shapes they're required to conform to, but the ability to digress from the norm and create aesthetic designs without affecting the function can make a building stand out.

Despite the fact that people usually look to more developed countries when searching for outstanding building designs, there are still some amazing building designs which can be found right here in Nigeria:

1. Eko pearl towers:

Eko Pearl Towers is a complex which is situated in the ongoing Eko Atlantic project in Lagos State.

Two of the towers have been constructed and when the complex is complete, it will consist of 5 residential skyscrapers, all ranging from 24 to 33 floors.

2. ECOWAS parliament complex:

The ECOWAS parliament complex is a building which can be found within the grounds of International Conference Center, Abuja.

The building, which houses the ECOWAS commission in Nigeria, is shaped like a curved letter 'H' and serves as the venue for all ECOWAS related meetings, conferences and matters.

3. Federal ministry of defense:

When you take a look at this building, it becomes obvious why the building was given the name 'ship house'.

The building, which was designed to look like a ship, was initially built for the Nigerian ports authority but it's now used as the headquarters of the Nigerian Ministry of Defence.

4. National Theatre:

The National Theatre is an amazing architectural masterpiece located at Iganmu, in the heart of Lagos.

The building, which is the primary centre for the performing arts in Nigeria, was started during the military regime of General Yakubu Gowon and completed during the military regime of Olusegun Obasanjo.

It was designed to look like a 'military cap' because of the period which it was Constructed in.

5. Airplane house:

The Airplane house is a plane shaped house which can be found in Asokoro, Abuja, and It's origin story is almost similar to India's Taj Mahal.The house was built in the shape of an airplane by a Lebanese Nigerian named Jammal, because he wanted his wife, who loved travelling, to always feel like she's in an airplane whenever she's inside the house.
