Poetry is a dominant genre of literature in this contemporary age. It is a way by which the poet converses his thoughts and expression musically and appealingly.
There are a plethora of writing platforms accepting submissions from poets such as Praxis, Writers' Hub, and even social media platforms such as Facebook or Twitter.
A Nigerian writer made a revelation on his Facebook page over his recent selection as a distinguished poet. This was shared by his colleagues on his Facebook page too.
The picture above was extracted from the poet's profile on Facebook but it seems that this is not his first time winning poetry contests. He is indeed a sage.
Martins Deep is one of the best poets in the country, having checked his profile it seems he is a young and budding writer. He is also an old student of Ahmadu Bello University.
It seems the contest was very tough considering the cash prize and the elation of the awardee.
Several hours after this the writer to his social media platform again disclosing his endorsement on another writing platform.
I believe that Nigerians should celebrate this new writer, as he may evolve to be in the league of great writers like Chinua Achebe, Wole Soyinka, and Chimamanda Adichie.
Don't you think Nigeria is blessed with great writers and academics?
