Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, Mourns Sir Victor Uwaifo

The Governor of Edo State, Governor Godwin Obaseki has mourned the death of legendary musician, inventor and Arts teacher, Professor sir Victor Uwaifo MON JP.

One of his children, Peter 'de Rock' Uwaifo, broke the sad news of the passing of the music maestro and visual arts professor on Facebook Saturday evening.

Governor Obaseki, in a statement , expressed shock and sadness over the news of the demise of Sir Victor Uwaifo, describing his death as a loss to Edo State, Nigeria and the black race.

The Governor described the deceased as a talented phenomenon and an illustrious son of Edo who wowed the World with his array of skills, notably, his music talent.

The Governor noted that, as an all-round artist, Professor Uwaifo was an enigma who made music for all, bringing the contemporary Benin culture to the World stage and providing vicarious experience of the peculiarities of the Benin Art and culture to a global Audience.

He prayed that God grants the Uwaifo family, friends, associates and well-wishers the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
