Modern football is always full of surprises and the current PSG situation happens to be one of them. PSG are currently said to have a super-team after getting some 'juicy' signings in the transfer window.
After creating the front trio of Messi, Neymar and Mbappe, everyone expected that PSG will practically destroy any opponents that they were up against. This has definitely not been the case so far this season.
The PSG Front Trio Are Struggling
Contrary to what was expected, the current PSG front three have been quite disappointing so far this season. It's almost as if the team plays better when the preferred front three aren't playing together.
Neymar, Mbappe and Messi have played two games together as a trio and those two games weren't comfortable for them. They failed to win the first game against Club Brugge and the second game was only won when one of them (Messi) was substituted out of the game.
The Little 'Glimmer' of Hope
Watching the three players play together, there has already been some small moments of magic and we have gotten to see some intriguing connections between them on the pitch.
Remember that these guys are still getting to know each other and are building their chemistry. The problem came when so much was expected as such a short period of time.
It's already evident that these guys can do something special together if they get the chemistry right.
PSG's New Stars
Of all the signings that PSG acquired, Lionel Messi and Sergio Ramos were expected to make the most impact. We are yet to see the best of either of these players.
It's too early to write Messi off this season simply because he started the season slowly. Recall that he had a similar run of form at the beginning of last season but he got back to his best later on.
An in-form Messi and a fully fit Sergio Ramos can make PSG a very scary team to face.
PSG Start The Season Slowly (As Usual)
Over the years, PSG hardly hit their stride in the early periods of the season. Recall that they failed to win their first two UEFA champions league group stage matches last season. They went on to win the group.
The same is already in motion this season after dropping points in the first UCL game. When PSG hit their stride last season, they were almost unstoppable.
They humiliated Barcelona in the UCL and also conquered Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals. With the squad additions that they got in the window, it's easy to believe that they now have what it takes to go all the way.
