PSG enjoyed one of the most successful transfer windows in the history of the game this summer.
Lionel Messi, Sergio Ramos, Georginio Wijnaldum, and Gianluigi Donnarumma were all signed on free transfers by the Ligue 1 giants. As if that wasn't enough, they also signed Achraf Hakimi from Serie A champions Inter Milan, giving them one of Europe's most star-studded squads.
PSG's Ligue 1 supremacy is all but an inevitability, considering the personnel at Mauricio Pochettino's disposal. Given the plethora of world-class players they landed in one go, they are aiming for the Champions League.
So, without further ado, here are PSG's five most valuable players right now.
Note: All player valuations and stats have been taken from Transfermarkt unless mentioned otherwise.
1. Kylian Mbappe - €160 million
Kylian Mbappe is currently regarded as one of the top young forwards in the world. Despite being only 22, the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner has already contributed almost 200 goals to PSG (136 goals, 66 assists).
Despite Mbappe's 42 goals in all competitions last season, PSG were unable to defend their Ligue 1 crown, which Lille won. They also lost to Manchester City in the Champions League semi-finals.
This season, the Frenchman has had an exceptionally poor start, scoring just four goals in 11 games in all competitions. With Messi and Neymar on his wings, another sensational season from Mbappe isn't out of the question.
After almost signing for Real Madrid this summer, the 22-year-old has a point to prove. PSG will be hoping that this helps them win the Champions League for the first time.
2. Neymar - €100 million
Neymar hasn't exactly set the stage on fire at PSG since making a world-record deal from Barcelona in the summer of 2017.
Despite his injury problems, the Brazilian has made over 100 appearances for PSG in various tournaments. During this time, he has 88 goals and 54 assists to his credit. Neymar just made history by becoming the first player in Champions League history to record 20 goals for two separate clubs. With PSG, he has yet to win the competition.
Neymar, like Messi, has had a poor start to the season, scoring only once in seven appearances across all competitions. With Messi's arrival, though, the Brazilian is expected to reclaim his mojo and win his second Champions League trophy, as well as PSG's first.
3. Lionel Messi - €80 million
Lionel Messi, probably the best player in the history of the game, has had a quiet start to his PSG career.
After Barcelona failed to offer him a contract deal, Messi moved to PSG this summer. PSG now has one of the most fearsome offensive triumvirates in the league, with Neymar and French wonder Kylian Mbappe reuniting.
Despite his excellent international form, Messi has yet to score in Ligue 1 after three games. He did, however, score his first goal for his new club in PSG's Champions League victory over Manchester City.
The Ligue 1 champions will be hoping it's only a matter of time before the six-time Ballon d'Or winner replicates his outstanding Barcelona performances on a more regular basis.
4. Marquinhos - €75 million
Marquinhos is now one of the top goal-scoring centre-backs in the game. The Brazilian, who is still only 27, has been at PSG for almost a decade.
During this span, the six-time Ligue 1 champion has scored 31 goals and provided eight assists in nearly 300 appearances for PSG across all competitions. The majority of his goals have come in the final stages of tournaments such as the Champions League.
PSG's centre-back No. 2 After Cristiano Ronaldo (2011-12, 2012-13, 2013-14) and Antoine Griezmann (2011-12, 2012-13, 2013-14), Marquinhos is the only player in @ChampionsLeague history to score in the quarter-final and semi-final in successive seasons (2015-16, 2016-17).
He has yet to open his season's account. Marquinhos, on the other hand, will want to lead from the front as PSG look to build on their busy summer of high-profile signings.
5. Achraf Hakimi - €70 million
Achraf Hakimi is one of the game's most exciting goal-scoring full-backs right now.
After a highly successful season at Inter Milan, he has joined PSG. Inter won their first Scudetto in 11 years, with the former Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund full-back scoring seven goals and providing 10 assists.
The 22-year-old has made an immediate impact at PSG, scoring in his first game against Troyes. Hakimi had three goals and two assists in 12 games across all competitions just a few weeks later.
Hakimi should play a major role in PSG's pursuit for a continental treble, barring an injury or a sudden drop in form.
