It may not sound strange that the Federal government has commanded all telecommunication companies in Nigeria to deactivate Twitter from their networks by 12 Midnight.
According to VANGUARD, a news platform in Nigeria, the Federal government has ordered the deactivation of Twitter from Telecommunication networks in Nigeria, which suggests that as from 12 Midnight on Friday, no Nigerian account will be able to function on Twitter here in Nigeria.
Certainly, this may not be far from the ban placed on Twitter by Nigerian government following the removal (deletion) of President Buhari's tweet, which Twitter deemed offensive. Remember that President Buhari had differently attacked the South-East region on two social media platforms, Twitter and Facebook, which may have resulted in a social media war between the President and his citizens as the two platforms deleted his post.

Reacting to the deletion of President Buhari's tweet by Twitter, the federal government of Nigeria has suspended the operations of Twitter within the country.
