Why Did Anambra Generate Only N28 Billion IGR In 2020 Whereas They Generate N19.6 Billion Every Day?

Following the ongoing suspended weekly sit-at-home order being observed in the Southeast, the Anambra State governorship candidate from the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), who happens to be the former governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Prof. Soludo has come out to disclose how the Anambra State government loses nothing less than N19,600,000,000 (Nineteen billion six hundred million naira) every day that the state observes a sit-at-home day.

Soludo who made this known in a recent report from Sahara Reporters bemoaned the ongoing situation in the state while stating that Anambrarians aren't known for such behavior. He urged those responsible for this to have a rethink about the situation and stop it because it's massively affecting the state's economy.

However, amid the recent revelation of Soludo that Anambra state alone loses N19.6 billion every day that the sit-at-home order is observed I found it necessary to draw the state's financial contribution capacity to the Nigerian government under Governor Obiano into the topic.

According to a laid down research and analysis, I conducted lately I discovered that Anambra State only contributed a meager 2.14 percent share of the annual income revenue generation of states last year which was N28.01 billion naira.

However, according to layman analytics, it's easy to understand that what Anambra state generated last year as an internal revenue is barely 2 times what they generate every 2 days following Soludo's analysis, you can now multiply N19.6 billion by ten times and know what you would get as the result. At this juncture, my question now is; Why did Anambra generate only N28.01 billion as IGR last year whereas they generate over N19 billion daily?

Considering the above question, I believe that the reason why the state generated such a low amount is that some government-owned schools in the state are under a free education system, large infrastructures like the international airport being facilitated in the state may have also contributed to the low IGR.

What are your own thoughts?
