Nigeria is a country that's blessed with so many natural resources. Apart from crude oil, there are places in Nigeria where precious stones/metals can be found.
We'll be looking at the states where Gold, Sapphire, and Aquamarine have been discovered in Nigeria, and how it can properly be managed.
Apart from Osun State, gold deposits have also been discovered in Cross River, Sokoto, Abia, Abuja, Kebbi, Oyo, Niger, Bauchi, Edo, and Zamfara State.
Though Nigeria is blessed with this precious metal, mismanagement and lack of proper attention have affected its mining in the country.
This precious stone is highly valued in Nigeria and it's rare. Research shows that it can be found in Antah and Nisama (Kaduna), Gunda (Yobe), Bogoro (Bauchi), and Bokkos (Plateau).
There's a large deposit of this semi-precious stone in Nigeria, and it can be found in Agwada (Nasarawa), Ijebo Igbo (Ogun), and in Okene/Isanlu (Kogi).
This precious stone is sold at a high price. However, it isn't easy to find.
How it can be properly managed by the government
The government should invest in areas where these precious stones and metals are found, and they should reach an agreement with some top mining industries to properly explore these areas.
Why it looks as though these stones/precious metals aren't talked about much in Nigeria is because the country focuses more on oil, and areas where these stones are found aren't properly explored.
Investing in the mining of these stones will positively affect the economy of Nigeria.
