The founder and Chairman of Dangote Group of Companies, Aliko Dangote, has been under attack in recent weeks by fellow Nigerians for selling his cement higher to Nigerians compare to the amount he sells to other neighbouring countries.
Those who criticised Dangote for selling cement too cost in the country were of the opinion that Dangote supposed to consider the fact that he made his wealth in Nigeria, and his cement companies are in Nigeria and sell his cement to fellow Nigerians cheaper than what he is selling to others countries in Africa.
However, the management of Dangote Plc has come out to clear the air on the amount the cements from its factories are sold in Nigeria and across different African countries.
The different prices showed that the Nigerian born richest man in Africa is fair to his country and sells his cement cheaper in Nigeria compare to many other African countries as against the earlier believe.
According to a report by Vanguard Newspaper, Dangote Cement is sold for N2,450 in Obajana and Gboko, and N2,510 in Ibese inclusive of VAT as at 12th April 2021.
While a bag of Dangote cement is sold for $5.1, including the charges for VAT in Nigeria, the same bag of cement sells for $7.2 in Ghana and also sells for $5.95 in Zambia ex-factory which includes taxes.
This goes a long way to prove the fact that Dangote is indeed fair to Nigeria and fellow Nigerians against the earlier notion that he sells his cement higher in Nigeria and sells at cheaper rate in other African countries.
