The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) has said that Nigeria's market tops the list of cocaine smuggling regions in Africa. In the global report on cocaine 2023, the results show that the steep growth has been matched by growing demands.
In the news, it was said that Nigeria often works with compatriots from other countries, often with other members of particular cult groups in most European countries, especially those operating in Brazil.
In the report, which read part of the report by UNODC, by Nigeria, and to other countries, as well as the transport route from 2018–2021, it was reported that trafficking of cocaine from Nigeria to at least twenty countries or territories occurred.
This includes a subregion like Ghana, Mali, and Senegal, or a transit country like Morocco or Ethiopia, and the Pacific Asian region like China, India, and Hong Kong.
