No fewer than 400 small and medium scale business entrepreneurs in Onitsha, Anambra state have benefitted from the Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) capacity training of the United Bank of Africa (UBA).

The participants, who were drawn from various markets in the commercial city, underwent training on records keeping, cost reduction, stock compiling, financial and taxation planning, maximizing opportunities, financial planning and projections.

The Regional head, Anambra II of the bank, Anyanuno Ozioma, during the training said the capacity development workshop was targeted at adding value to their customers' businesses through improving their knowledge and skills.

He said the workshop was also to fill up the existing gaps observed in the various business ventures as well as allay their hitherto fears in expanding their businesses.

He said, "Modern day business requires that an average businessman regularly updates his knowledge to cope with the changing economy.

"Besides, this is an internet age and our customers need to learn new ways of doing business and to know how to package their businesses for increased patronage.

Describing the attendance to the training as satisfactory and exemplary, Anyanuno said the turnout was a demonstration of acceptance of the bank by the traders in the area and the importance they attached to the workshop.

He promised a repeat of the exercise to ensure those who were unable to attend benefitted from the workshop.

Also speaking, Head, MSME Banking, Babatunde Ajayi said the programme was part of the Corporate Social Responsibility of the bank in furtherance to her responsiveness to the needs of her numerous customers in the region.

He said the facilitators for the training were drawn from seasoned business men and women, pledging the bank's readiness to provide its clients with the necessary assistance they needed.

Ajayi further expressed satisfaction with the number of customers in the region, which he said constituted one third of the over 15million customers in the country.
