It was contained in a statement by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on the 23rd, October, 2021 that the launch of the eNaira is a sign of the attainment of glory after several years of research work by the Apex Bank in advancing the boundaries of payments system in order to make financial transactions easier and seamless for every sector in the Nation.
The eNaira is themed: “Same Naira, more possibilities.”
CBN described the eNaira as a journey, and emphasized that the launching is just the first step in that journey, and will continue with a series of further modifications, capabilities and enhancements to the platforms.
The CBN also will continue to work with relevant partners to ensure a seamless process that will benefit every user, particularly those in the rural areas.
