After heavy rain flood washed away a great segment of the Potiskum - Jakusko road in Yobe State a couple of months ago, thereby disrupting regular traffic movement and business activities along that axis, just this week the Buhari administration has commenced its reconstruction, with partial traffic movement even going on right now on it.
That particular road has been a major economic nerve, not only for Yobe State but the Northeast region as a whole, as it links 7 Local Government Areas known for commercial fishing activities and other entrepreneurial ventures, which makes the commencement of its reconstruction a vital intervention that will re-energize the economy of the State.
2. The Buhari Administration Inaugurates The Yobe Farm Estate.
In moving forward with its economic diversification agenda through the expansion of agricultural production across the country, at the end of September 2021, the Buhari administration inaugurated a Farm Estate it developed in Yobe State.
Sitting on 20 hectares of land at Gasamu town in Jakusko Local Government Area, this Farm Estate houses 10 poultry pens that contain 30,000 local chicken plus an incubation centre. And the idea is for this farm to be a hub for the multiplication of the local (African) variety of chicken, which will be distributed to consumers across the country.
While the farm is expected to produce about 250,000 broilers annually for sales, it is also expected to produce about 850 crates of eggs per day for sales to retailers and consumers, and will have an estimated N400m annual profit value for entrepreneurs in its value chain.
As a revenue generating agricultural venture, the most important aspect of this Farm Estate is the jobs and business opportunities it has created for residents of Yobe State. This alone will have a long term positive impact on the economy of the State, thereby making it a viable investment by the Buhari administration.
