Iba Gani Adams has made a call to the governors of the southwest states to allocate 15% of their budget into agriculture.
Adam's revealed that if a move like this is made, then a huge impact will sustain the production of food in the south west region.
He further advised southwest governors to imitate Rwanda by ensuring they invest in agriculture. According to Gani Adam's he revealed that the people of the South West consume over eight billion Naira worth of on a daily basis.
He also revealed that with the recent food crisis that is going on between the North and the South in Nigeria, security groups in the Southwest should ensure the safety of farmer so as help in the production of agricultural products.
He said in his own words:
“Investment in agriculture will provide employment, enhance IGR, provide food security, reduce urban congestion, and enlarge the coast for participatory, modernised agriculture,”.
“It is the responsibility of all the South-West governors to swiftly respond and seek a better approach to enhance both small and large scale farming across the region.
“They should also strengthen the security architecture of the region,”.
