How The Fear Of Poverty And Joblessness Have Made Me A Successful Quality Creator In Opera News Hub

If there is anything I strongly believe in, it is the power of thinking, education and personal development with the meager resources available for me to utilise. I was not born with a silver spoon, but my family is one in which many people have always come to seek help in one way or another because of how generous and open-minded my parents are (Although, my dad is late, mom is down with breast cancer).

However, I grew up with a sound Christian background and my parents, though they have no formal education but are lovers of knowledge and seek to trained me and my siblings through Western education. As a matter of fact, I have always been the best of me anywhere I find myself both in the academic world and my social life.

Having known my family background and the need for me to grow beyond what my parents have achieved, the fear of languishing in poverty and being jobless in a country where graduates no longer finds jobs opportunities and “White Collar Jobs” has no value as in the good old days, I decided to put on my thinking cap that has taken me to where I am today.

Frankly, I was not born a writer neither was it a planned pathway for me to become a content creator. But with the circumstances of how and where I am coming from, coupled with my experience as a graduate of History and International Studies in one of the States owned Universities (Akwa Ibom State University) in Nigeria, I've been able to calf a niche for myself and the future prospects for my life and career goals.

I'm one person that's very passionate about anything I do. I tried as much as I could to always bring out the best in me to explore my potential, be consistent, committed and add value to every aspect of my life. Not only that, but I want to live a successful and rewarding life and not being a liability to anyone. But be a part of problem solvers. This has arguably been the experience for me so far because I can boast of my achievements since I became independent of my life.

After graduation in the late 2019, coupled with the emergence of novel COVID-19 that brought about a total lockdown which in turn crippled economic activities in the country and other parts of the world, the year 2020 remains a memorable one for everyone in the world. It was during this period that I was left in shambles of “what to do as to help myself survive the storms of the lockdown”. I never learned any skill, but I know very well that I am gifted with the creativity of putting words together to make meaningful expressions (writing). I know quite well that I am not the best, but I do try my best.

Consequently, I began to research on what platform I could write and get paid at the end of the day and others businesses I could do online, then I came across many options in the process of browsing through the Google search engine. Since I was already familiar with the Opera Mini browser, I never knew about the Opera News Hub and the fact that they accept people irrespective of qualifications or other criteria to create content for the platform.

The process of registering an account with the platform and approval of my Wemedia page didn't take much longer than I expected. I started reading other people's contents, rules and regulations guiding publication of an article in the hub. Soon, I started following creative writers in the hub that were creating quality content. All thanks for Richiehenshaw, CityPost (Really helped shape my experience in the hub), Sportsinyoruba and the rest whose articles I have learned from to improve on my skills as one of quality content creators today.

So far, I have won several awards in the hub, be among the Top earners almost every month and with the money I have made from the hub as a writer, I have been able to take care of my mom who is down with cancer, support my siblings, rent a one-bedroom apartment for myself and furnished it. I'm really working hard and planning to open a side business that would help take care of other things.

However, my experience in the hub has been one with mixed feelings but in all, I am glade Opera News Hub is waxing stronger and better by the day and I strongly believe that with the support many writers including me have received, in the next few months, we would have many writers become millionaires.

On the other hand, the platform should work more on training the already existing creators in the hub to be more proactive and deliver more quality contents, be professional in a way that would make other platforms be afraid of competition with the Opera News Hub.

That has been my experience so far in the past few months of being a part of the Opera News Hub family.
