The Pandemic Has Taught Us How Best To Mitigate Its Socio-economic Effects- President Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari said the COVID-19 Pandemic has taught Nigerians how to work hard in ensuring that its socio-economic effects are properly managed.


The President disclosed this in Paris, France, on the occasion of the Nigeria International Partnership Forum.

According to VANGUARD NEWS, the President said: "For us in Nigeria, lessons drawn from the pandemic prompted us to redouble efforts to mitigate its socio-economic effects.

"Despite prevailing uncertainties, our equitable and sustainable reform initiatives resulted in substantial economic gains and steady recovery."

President Muhammadu Buhari also assured French investors that Nigeria has the potential to attract and retain Foreign Direct Investment. According to him, the outcome on the Nigerian economy is very bright.

The Nigerian President gave the assurance that the Federal Government, under his watch, is taking the right steps to carry out multi-sectoral progress.

He added that his administration has revitalized the Nigerian economy via the increment in investments in the areas of capacity building, health, infrastructure, some empowerment, climate change, and food security.

In his words: "Today, these actions are yielding self-employment, expanding our human resource pool, and strengthening our national productivity for sustainable development," he said.

President Buhari, while addressing attendants at the forum, disclosed that the nation Is mindful of the risks faced, and has decided to, one more time, assess and then seek forana can update in the National Security measure in 2019.

This is a step in the right direction. Nigeria needs to have foreign investors visit the country with the sole aim to do business. As a country, Nigeria is blessed with a lot of natural resources.

This is one of the reasons why President Buhari wants French investors, to look into Nigeria as a lot of natural resources are present in abundance.

It is hoped that the French investors agree to visit Nigeria to see the kind of businesses they can invest in on Nigerian soil. It would be a win-win for the investors and partners.
