Over the years, Nigerians, mostly farmers have been yelling for government intervention on the uninterrupted killings and destruction of farm crops by herdsmen.
With inpunity, herders would parade their beasts on the farm, destroy the crops, rape and kill the farmers. When the farmers raise alarm, it would be tagged farmers/herders clash.
Herders lording over farmers has lasted for many years, with the government doing nothing or little about it, thereby keeping farmers out of their farms. When the farmers decided to defend themselves, the government turned against them.
This cartoon from @mobilepunch explains in detail the security situation in Nigeria.
In this cartoon, one could see a man holding a gun and bullying another, while the policeman/soldier watched, with their guns hung behind their backs.
The man with a gun represents a particular tribe in Nigeria who is treated like first class citizen. The bullied represents the helpless and unarmed civilians, while the policeman and the soldier represent the government.
The second cartoon shows where the unarmed citizen retaliated. The government turned against him as the police/soldier furiously pointed guns at him.
