A few days ago, President Muhammadu Buhari presented the 2022 Budget to the National Assembly, the budget has even scaled 2nd reading in the House of Representatives. The budget contains an estimated amount of money the government will need to expend in 2022. In the history of Nigeria, the amount presented by President Muhammadu Buhari for 2022 has never been presented before, a bogus N16.39 Trillion budget which its larger potion will be serviced by loan. Many economic analysts have looked into the budget and shared their views with Nigerians, but the most commonly talked about in the budget is the place under State House (Aso Rock) that has earmarked N76.67million out of the budget for the payment of "Residential Rent". Nigerians are asking if Aso Rock is on lease to the Federal Government that such a huge amount of money is being plaid as rent to an unknown landlord?
The truth is that many Nigerians don't understand that the government has a lot of aides that should live close to the State House, because of the kind of work they do. For this reason, they are to be provided with accommodations or shelters to ease their work. Since the Aso Rock is not big enough to occupy all these aides, the government has to look for alternatives in a place close to Aso Rock as possible.
These places are not purchased by the government, so they have been rented and paid for by the government, that is why such has been budgeted for in the 2022 Appropriation Bill. Although the government can do away with this type of controversial allocation in the budget by reducing the numbers of aides and appointees in the Government.
