Agriculture has been the main stay of some economies before the advancement of science and technology, even though at present, many people have gone and are still going back to farming because they have come to the realization that it's the pillar that holds every economy. Most countries derive their main national revenue from Agriculture. In all this, our very own Ghananian actor, John Dumelo is not left out. John Dumelo is a talented actor who has featured in a great number of movies, both in Ghallywood and Nollywood industries.
He took out time today to share photos of him in his farm, harvesting agricultural crops like Ginger. This is very nice. Who would have ever thought that a celebrity like him will stoop so low as to farm, and even share the pictures on his Instagram page. Here is a shock, he even called himself a "proud farmer". This is a life worthy of emulation. Being a farmer does not decrease the worth of a person, rather it goes a long way to even increase your worth financially because farming is a lucrative business.
Still in doubt? Let's use Nigeria as a case study. In the early years, before the discovery of crude oil in large quantity at Oloibiri in Bayelsa state. Agriculture was the main stay of Nigerian economy. Then, Nigeria was producing cocoa, timber, iron ore in large quantity. There was an increase in the GDP of Nigeria due to agricultural practice. That was when the then head of state, Alhaji Yakubu Gowon started that "money was not Nigeria's problem but how to spend it". But today, there has been a paradigm shift from agriculture to crude oil, which is really affecting the economy at present.
The bottom line is, agriculture is good, celebrity or no celebrity. Let people be encouraged to venture into Agriculture just like John Dumelo is doing.
