Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland, Gani Adams has told the northern traders they should not they are doing the southwest any favor in foodstuffs supply to the region, Aare said the southwestern part of the country consume over 8 billion worth of foods and protein on daily basis. He said this while addressing journalists concerning the protest of Amalgamated Food Sellers in the North, blocking of foods from getting to the southwest.
Aare Gani Adams depicts the action by the northern traders for blocking the food supply as embarrassing and unwanted.
He called on the governors from the southwest to make a 15 percent state annual budget for Agriculture to ensure the provision of sustainable food production in the region.
He added that investing in agriculture enhance employment provision and food security as well as a reduction in urban congestion.,
Gani said he has figures of billions of naira the region spent on perishable products on daily basis and described the now suspended blockage as a blessing to the southwestern region as that will enhance agricultural revolution in the region compared to the past.
He challenged the southwest governors of taking respond to the northern threat as a compulsion and take the right approach in enhancing both small and large scale farming across the region.
