Hold The Federal Government Responsible If The Doors Of Our Universities Are Shut Again- ASUU

It can be argued that in organizations real change comes in two forms : development or deterioration. From this perspective, when things change, they either improve or worsen. If they do neither, the question then becomes what kind of change is it that neither make things better or worse after all, "change for the better" and "change for the worse" are more familiar experiences and concepts than " change that makes no difference".

Hence,in the management of human capital, it is of Paramount importance to make sure that.

1)Human Capital changes to keep abreast of other changes

2) Human Capital changes in accordance with principles and trajectories of talent evolution

3) Career that are static should be reviewed to determine whether they should remain so.

4) That changes in human capital are in fact developmental and not cosmetic " change for change sake".

The Inability of the Federal Government of Nigeria to fulfill the implementation of all the items in the memorandum of Action it had, with ASUU which give the timeline of December 2020 for the implementation of all outstanding issues, is propelling ASUU on another industrial action.

Recently the zonal coordinator, Academic Staff Union of Universities, Akure zone, Prof Olufayo Olu-Olu said that the looming industrial action by lectures in the Nation's Public Universities was due to the Federal Government's lack of interest in human capital development.

The failure of the Federal Government of Nigeria to fulfill his agreements with ASUU has prevented members of the association to fulfill their personal responsibilities such as the payment of their utility bills, hospital bill as well as their children School fees.

All these personal factors and those that are related to the development of their Professional career which the Government has failed to honour has Largely been attributed to the Federal Government's lack of interest in human capital development.

Failure to keep unto this agreement by the FG may force the Union to shut the doors of the Nation's Public Universities.

If this happens, the Union have told Nigerians they should not be blamed for any action they may take.
