3 Things To Do Before Buying A Land

Everyday, people sell and buy lands in different areas of Nigeria. Little by little, these bare lands become beautiful structures that amount to millions of naira. Even without developing a piece of land, there is a high possibility that the value such land would be worth years from now would be more than what you bought it.

In order to be on the safer side before you buy land, there are some red flags you should watch out for. They may seem like nothing, but if one is not careful they can become big problems later in the future. In this article we would examine some things you should look out for. They are:

1. Don't buy a family land without the consent of the head of the family and major members of the family:

There are many times where members of a particular family may decide to go behind the other family members to sell land to unsuspecting victims. Where you want to buy a landed property owned by a family, you must make sure that it is the principal members of that family that are selling such land to you.

2. Don't buy a land without first making general findings about such land:

Making findings about any property before you buy it is very important. Not only would you know the history of such land, but you would be able to decide whether or not it is a good idea to buy such land. Making findings include: asking people around about the land, making search at the ministry of lands, e.t.c.

3. Don't buy a land without seeking the services of a lawyer:

There are so many benefits of having a lawyer especially during land transactions. Not only can they help you conduct due diligence on the land, but the can also help you prepare documents that would transfer the title of the land to you.
