There is a special school function called the Rag Day at the Nigerian tertiary institution level. The activities often cone within the Student Week which is specifically for student-related activities.
The student week is special usually lectures free week approved by the school authorities to give the Student Union Government the opportunity to integrate and engage students in some related activities.
The activities held during the student week comprises the Cultural day, sports competition, old school day, social day and the Rag day.
Recently a Nigerian tertiary institution is observing their student week and it's making headline due to the hilarious and special activities they are carrying out.
Federal Polytechnic, Oko Is currently her six days student's week celebration. The student week started on the 1st of March and will run till the 7th of March as announced by the institution Student Union Government.
During this period, there will be no lectures to allow the students to fully concentrated and carry out the activities effectively.
The institution held on the 5th of March and the activities were a success as they created huge awareness and it even trended on social media platforms.
The idea of Rag day is to allow the student the opportunity to beg and solicit financial reports from friends and even strangers. The students will dress in rags to attract pity from the public and will do all kinds of silly and funny things to create awareness and earn money from cheerful givers that will donate to their cause.
