Professor Charles Egbu, from Abatete, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State, got the appointment as Prof. Margaret House, the current VC is stepping down after seven years on the position.
This appointment makes Prof.Egbu the first Black VC of any UK University or College.
According to a tweet from the university, Prof. Egbu is joining them from another prestigious institution of higher learning; University of East London where he is currently the Pro Vice-chancellor for Education and Experience.
Prof. Charles Egbu has vast experience in the tertiary education sector.
Before he joined East London University, he was Dean for the School of Built Environment and Architecture at the London South Bank University for 5 years.
He was also a one time Professor of Project management and Strategic Management at The University of Stanford for 7 years.
Obviously he seem well tailored for the job. All we can say is congratulations Prof. Charles Egbu.
