School reopening: WAEC Announced New Date For 2020 Examination After Meeting FG

The federal government and west Africa examination council have concluded to adjust the 202 0 West Africa Examination date from August 4th,2020 to September 5th, 2020.

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) is an examination board established by law to determine the examinations required in the public interest in the English-speaking West African countries, to conduct the examinations and to award certificates comparable to those of equivalent examining authorities internationally. Established in 1952, the council has contributed to education in Anglophonic countries of West Africa (Ghana, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Liberia, and the Gambia), with the number of examinations they have coordinated, and certificates they have issued. They also formed an endowment fund, to contribute to the education in West Africa, through lectures, and aid to those who cannot afford education.

Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, Minister of state for education announced this on Friday 17th July, 2020. He proceed by saying this was the outcome of the meeting held between West Africa Examination Council WAEC officials in Nigeria and the federal government on Monday July 13th, 2020.

The minister of state for Education said federal government as given announcement to private school owners to meet the Corona virus preventive guidelines given to all schools before 29th July, 2020.

Recall that the federal government as stopped the partial reopening of schools for SS 3 students to conduct their west Africa senior certificate examination WASCE by August 3 due to the increase in number of Corona virus patient.
