Born in Katsina on the 28th of August, 1950, Waziri Katsina, Professor Sani Abubakar Lugga (FNIM), is considered by many as one of the most schooled monarch in Nigeria and to some extent, West Africa.
Professor Lugga has over 100 awards to his name, honorary appointments and global recognition. The reasons for all these accolades are not far-fetched, as he is a revered Professor, traditional ruler, peace ambassador, resource person and a philanthropist.
Prof. Lugga who has been on the throne for 17 years, is the fifth Waziri of Katsina in the history chain of the title, and the third from his late grandfather’s family, Sheikh Haruna, the first Wazirin Katsina.
He started his tertiary institution at the Kaduna State Polytechnic, where he bagged an Ordinary National Diploma in Marketing.
He proceeded to the United Kingdom and studied Manufacturing at the Institute of Manufacturing, Warwickshire.
Prof. Lugga continued his quest for more knowledge as he nailed a Certificate in Management from Kabelmetal Electro Training in Germany.
Still not satisfied, in 1999, he bagged a Master’s Degree in Business Administration at the prestigious University of Ilorin.
Prof then pursued a double degree program from St. Clemens University and the World Association of Universities and Colleges, Washington DC.
Dr Sani Lugga was obviously not done studying as he went back St. Clemens University, and grabbed another Master and Doctorate Degrees in Management in 2002 and 2003 respectively. What a man!
The monarch is a Member of the Nigerian Marketing Association.

-Fellow Institute of Industrialist and Corporate Administrators.
-Member at the Chartered Institute of Commerce of Nigeria.
-Fellow Institute of Professional Financial Managers of Nigeria.
-Member American Institute of Management.
-Fellow Institute of Management Consultants.
-Member British Institute of Manufacturing.
Needless to say, he has authored and co-authored lots of publications in his rewarding career.
Professor Lugga has served in various capacities at federal government, state government and at community levels.
