500 Pioneering Students Of Thomas Adewumi University Set For Historic Flag Off Of Session On May 16

The Thomas Adewumi University located at Oko, Kwara State is set for historic take-off of academic activities come May 16, 2021, barely one month after securing licence by the National Universities Commission (NUC), to commence operation as a tertiary institution.

To this end, about 500 pioneering students who are lucky to secure admission into the University within the past few weeks, are expected to start arriving campus as from that day.

The Institution's Registrar, Mrs Maria Modupe Popoola made the disclosure during an interview.

Popoola who was visibly elated said the University has more than enough facilities to provide qualitative and excellent academic training to the teeming students who would be high-flyers in the country.

Said the Registrar: "Our University has enormous facilities with a compelling ambience for learning. Our prospective students are particularly lucky to be the first to taste the good things of life we have on campus. It has been a worthwhile experience in that we set a target for ourselves. We worked round the clock and we have accomplished our corporate desire.

"Our doors are open to young ones who desire the best for their future as the admission process is still currently on, provided such admission seekers scored 160 and above in JAMB"

According to her, the University's area of specialty will focus mainly on aspects of Managerial Studies, Sciences and Medical Sciences.

Courses to be offered are; Medical Laboratory Sciences, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Microbiology, Bio-Chemistry, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, and Physics with Electronics.

Others include Mass Communication, Business Administration, Accounting, Criminology and Security Studies and Economics.

The Thomas Adewumi University(TAU) is among the 20 new universities which the Federal Government approved in February early this year.

The Management of the institution is led by its Vice-Chancellor, Professor Luke Ayorinde, a former Deputy Vice-Chancellor at the University of Ilorin and the immediate past Vice-Chancellor of Kola Daisi University.
