The outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic in Nigeria has dismantled the country's economy. Many sectors of the country are affected.
The educational sector has been shut down since mid-March in order to curb the spread of the virus in Nigeria.
The most affected segment of society is the private school owners and teachers.
Public school teachers under Government payroll are still collecting their monthly salary despite school closure.
Many private school teachers have turned to beggars and the long compulsory holiday continues.
Many of them do not have another source of income aside from their monthly salary and since school is closed and proprietors could no longer pay them.
Even those that are ready to switch career have no idea of where to go because amount all the sectors of the country is affected as many firms begin to lay off their staff.
However, some prominent Nigerians have come to the aid of these poor teachers. Many of them who cried for help on social media have been catered for.
A philanthropist and social media influencer named Oluyemi Fasipe has vowed to continue giving private school teachers 5,000 monthly salaries.
"5k monthly for 5 private school teachers till school resumes, just drop convincing proof in the comment section. I will select randomly." He posted on his Twitter handle.
All you need to do is to search for his twitter handle, follow him, and provide evidence that you are a private school teacher.
