Protest in UNIBEN as students force Vice Chancellor to walk down to school main gate.

Students of the University of Benin on Monday started a protest inside the school Main campus.

The students who said they were angry because of the recent increase in their school fees have since shown their anger by going on a compulsory strike whilst protesting in all the school campuses.

On Wednesday, the student made their way to the VC's lounge requesting to speak to her after several days of silence but as soon as the VC came out to speak to them, they demanded that she first, treck down to the school main gate before addressing them.

As at the time of writing this report, the students are currently on the street of Benin as they have continued to cause heavy traffic along the UNIBEN school gate including Ring road Benin.

Reports from student suggest that the reason for the protest was as a result of the recent addition of 20,000 naira to their school fee.

The student contacted said; " we are being asked to pay an additional sum of 20,000 naira as late payment fee with a three weeks ultimatum. The students, In their opinion said, it is already 3 weeks since they resumed and that management should not expect to have students come into school after the holiday and the next thing is paying of fees considering the economic situation in the country.

They also said that the threat to suspend them is not going to work as 60% of the students are yet to pay their fees.
