Nigerian Teachers to receive enhance salaries and also to spend 40 years in service

The Minister of State for Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, disclosed that Nigerian teachers begin to benefit from the salary structure promised by Buhari's administration from January Next year.

In a symposium organized by the Ministry of Education, it is part of the activities to mark the forthcoming 2021 World Teachers Day with the theme "Teacher at the Heart of Education Recovery".

Sonny Echono the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, represented the minister. 

He added that work is being done on other incentives promised by the president during the 2020 World Teachers Day.

The incentives ranged from allowances, housing, training to extending the service year to 40 from 35.

Sonny also revealed that approval of the enhanced salary structure has been concluded by the president and they will soon finish the process.

The Permanent Secretary also disclosed other things as he commended the teachers for their sacrifices.

Josiah Ajiboye, the Registrar and Chief Executive Teachers Registration Council (TRCN), said every country of the world was affected by the ongoing pandemic. Also, while some continents were able to swiftly adjust to the new normal. But countries in Africa, including Nigeria, experienced hardship to adjust to technology-based learning.

He encouraged the teachers to take up information Communication Tchnology (ICT) to stay at the top of teaching in order not to be left behind.
