As the world is preparing for post COVID-19 realities, the government of Oyo state has revealed today being July 20 that its ready to prepare students for West African Examination Council (WAEC), and other external examinations.
It was announced on Monday July 20 by Dr. Nureni Adeniran, the chairman of Oyo state Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB). He said they are on top of the situation as they have prepared students and pupils for all examinations
In his statement, he said; “Earlier, the Federal Government said they cancelled WAEC but we thank God that they have reversed themselves, WAEC is conducted by a regional body comprising many countries, Nigeria inclusive and the COVID-19 pandemic is global, so whatever the body says should be the final, not what Nigeria thinks should happen."
He added that, since corona virus broke out, SUBEB had been conducting classes for all students and pupils on television program in order to keep them in form. That approach shows how much they are ready to resume for examinations.
Regarding resumption, he said all business people that have erect shanties, kiosk and other structures around the school building/premises should evacuate today with immediate effect or else those structures will be demolished after today.
He said if such illegality are allowed, it may have negative impact on the performance of students, especially pupils.
