The Covid19 have not only affected economic situation but also the educational system all over the world. Nigeria is no exception, as many are devising means to keep children's education in active situation.
Against this background, the New Era Girls Secondary School Old Girls Association, Surulere, Lagos, has set the pace in blazing the trail of educational pinnacle for the student of the New Era Girls Senior Secondary School, as they have provided some android phones to ease the online teaching adopted by the schools as a way of defeating the impact of Covid19 on education on some of the SS3 students.
On the 10th of July 2020, 22 Android phones were presented to the representative of the Honorable Commissioner for Education in the presence of the representative of the TG/PS District IV, principals, staff, representatives of the parents and students of the beneficiaries. The presentation of the android phones configures in such a way that it will enhance the students' educational enthusiasm was made in the school hall
In the opening speech of the president, Prof. Tamira Runsewe Abiodun, represented by the National Vice President of NEGSSAA, Mrs. Adenike Bankole, admonished the student to endeavor to optimally maximise the use of the device solely for their educational up-liftment and in making the school proud in the forth- coming WASC examination.
Some of the co-sponsors of the project include Spectrum Innovation Technology, Balaah Hope Initiative for Child and Adolescent Health.
Speaking via Zoom to the recipients, the representative of Balaah Hope Initiative, pleaded with the recipients to be weary of distractions and concentrate on reasons of becoming great in their world. Mrs. Ifedolapo Runsewe stated the challenges of a girl child and suggested that the only way to overcome it was by studying their way through them.

Dr. Oyetola representing the commissioner of education, while acknowledging the gesture of the Association as a step in the right direction reiterated government's effort in making sure that students do not get rusty while staying at home because of the effect of COVID-19. She admonished them on the importance of online learning. She also enumerated the online tutorials facilitated by Lagos State government as private public partnership and mentioned that the kind gesture of the Old Girls have placed them in a good position to be one of the first beneficiaries of the Lagos State e-line efforts
While also appreciating the old girls, Mrs. Quartey also reminded the audience of the need to follow the NCDC guidelines on COVID -19 prevention at all times
In a thank you message on behalf of the recipient students, Susan Ibe thanked the Old Girls for their kind gesture in pulling their time and resources together to care for their younger ones, whom in their word, will be joining them soon.
