The West African Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) has announced the start of the final exams for high school students in Ghana.
The WAEC exam was first written on Monday, July 20, 2020 shortly after the high school students returned from school to continue their studies.
The Subjects include the seven programs offered at senior high schools (SHS), namely, General Arts, General Science, Business, Agricultural Science, Visual Arts, Home Economics and Technical Skills.
A total of 313,837 students will sit for the 2020 WAEC across Ghana.
Ghanaian President Nana Akufo-Addo has wishes the final year students who will be writing the final exams on his Twitter account.
According to him; “I send best wishes to the three hundred and thirteen thousand, eight hundred and thirty-seven (313,837) final year Senior High School students, who will from Monday, 20th July, take the West African Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE),”
The President described the value of education in Ghana, describing education as one of the key components of Ghana's future.
Mr Nana Akufo-Addo said they would work to ensure that every student adheres to the standards set by the health board which include; use hand sanitizer, use face masks and allow social distance during writing exams.
In Nigeria, the Ministry of Education has not yet reached a final agreement to write the WAEC exam.
Last week, Minister of Education Adamu Adamu announced that the final exams would not be written in 2020.
He reiterated that the Federal Government was still adamant that there was no WAEC exam date in Nigeria.
