Do Not Be Deceived, FG Has Not Announced Any Date Yet For WAEC

There are lots of news circulating everywhere that the federal government and West African Examination Council have agreed on a new date for the 2020 WASSCE.

After an extensive research, it has come to the author's notice that this information is false and should be completely debunked.

The false information being spread is that the federal government of Nigeria have agreed with other countries participating in the WAEC exams on a particular date for this year's exam. That is not true, as in fact there has not been any consensus for a new date.

The correct information is that the Federal government has agreed to meet with other countries participating in the WAEC in order to consider and discuss postponement of the exam. Do take note of the difference. There is no fixed date yet, all there is is just an agreement to meet and discuss postponement.

This announcement was accurately made by the Minister of State for Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, in Abuja on Friday.

Mr Nwajiuba said and we quote, "We met with WAEC on Monday and (we) have agreed to further consult with four other countries (Ghana, Sierra Leone, The Gambia, and Liberia) on a new examination date.

What this means is that there will be a meeting where possible postponement will be discussed. And based on this, there is yet to be an agreed date.

Therefore, kindly debunk any rumour that there is any fixed date for the 2020 WAEC. When there is any date fixed, the information will be properly dispensed.

Be properly guided.
