School Resumption: SUG PROs Protesting On Twitter Handle

Is no longer news that schools in the entire nation was shut down in March and Students sent packing because of the deadly coronavirus.

There has been series of measures to curtail the spread of this virus in Nigeria and yet the numbers kept on rising fearfully.

During these periods, federal government has taken series of decision which includes closing down land and sea borders, closure of schools and markets, compulsory use of face mask, social distancing and avoidance of hand shake and also use of handle sanitizers.

There has also been series of Reopenings of these places that has been locked and key.

On 27th June, federal government announced that they have lifted the ban of inter state travels and schools cam reopen for final year students only in primary and secondary school because of their exams.

Not quite longer after the announcement, the Federal Ministry of education came and faulted the resumption news and mandated that schools must remain shut. This has brought many reactions from all quarters.

Earlier this week, the National SUG PROs has sent a warning massage to Nigerian Government telling them to reopen schools or face a mass protest by Nigerian Students.

They expressed their sadness over the federal government lacadastical approach towards education sector. They also made it clear that they are tired of staying at home.

According to them, if the markets, churches, mosques, local airlines, inter state bans can be lifted, why will schools remain shut?

They also wondered why they federal government refused opening school since students has not actually been indoors since March. Students has also been moving up and down since March. So why do federal government think that returning Students back to school would escalate the corona.

They started their online protest on Twitter yesterday night to register their grief.
