The student leaders in Rivers State have advised their fellow students not to attend a dialogue session with Governor Chief Nyesom Wike. The leaders claimed that the governor does not value students, and his agenda is not supported by the student population. The decision to boycott the interactive session was announced in a statement issued after a joint meeting of student leaders in Port Harcourt.
The governor had planned to address Rivers students on Wednesday ahead of Saturday's election, but the student leaders co-signed a communique expressing their refusal to accept the invitation. The statement cited the governor's failure to consider students' welfare during his time in office and accused his associates of bribing imposters to work with him.
The student leaders made it clear that they do not intend to bolster the governor's administration's position in the state, and they will not support his favored candidate in the election. The statement was co-signed by the National President of NURSS, Comr. Monmon Precious, the National President of NISA, Comr. Oloni Samson Enioluwa, the Chairman of the NANS JCC in Rivers State, Jokiel Chinonso G, and the President of the NURSS Senate, Comr. Ominaberison Goodluck W.
