Tuesday 11th of August 2020 happened to be the induction ceremony of the newly graduated doctors of the prestigious Delta State University (DELSU) Abraka whose teaching hospital is located in Ogharha.
It was gathered that these newly Inducted Doctors wrote their final exams since January 2020 but could not commence medical practice due to their pending induction, a ceremony where they are made to swear an oath and also get their temporary license.
Eventually the induction took place but it was in a very unusual pattern which made it even more interesting. You might want to find out what really happened.
Before I proceed to what turned out to be so interesting about the induction, let me quickly mention but a few some notable persons present in the induction. These are the Vice Chancellor Prof Andy O. Egwunyenga ably represented by the University deputy Vice chancellor (Administration) Professor S.O Asagba, the Provost of the medical college Professor Omo Aghoja, the Dean (Basic medical Science) Professor Eze Nwangua, the Dean (Clinical medicine), Professor Afeyodion Akhator and so lot more respected personalities in the University.
It was also gathered that the registrar (Medical and Dental council of Nigeria) Dr T.A.B Sanusi ably represented by his deputy Professor A.O Olatunji wasn't in the induction in person. And that was the major reason the induction turned out more interesting since for the very first time in history the induction venue happened to be in ICT centre.
You just might be wondering why that venue. It's simply because the inductees were made to swear oath online via Zone and the ICT centre being the best equipped facility for that scenario became a perfect choice of venue. Therefore lecturers, students, family, friends and well wishers all converged in the ICT to make the ceremony a success. It was indeed a wonderful day to remember.
