During registration for the 2021 Unified Tertiary Institution Matriculation Examination (UTME), candidates were not permitted to register with their email. As a result of this, they could not access their JAMB profiles to make payments data corrections. This situation exposed the candidates to extortion at the Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres. In order to protect students from extortion, the Joint Admission and Matriculation board has created two options for candidates to update their profiles with their e-mail addresses.
The first method involves a visit to any Computer Based Test (CBT) centre. The candidate is expected to supply his profile code or JAMB registration and email at the centre. After successful input, login details will be sent to his email address. This service costs about three hundred naira.
The second method can be carried out by the candidate himself. The procedure for doing this is outlined below.
1. Open SMS on your phone.
2. Type "email" followed by a space.
3. Enter your email address twice (make sure there is a space between them)
4. Send the SMS to 55019.
You will receive your login details through the email address provided. The service costs fifty naira only.
It is recommended that you immediately login to your JAMB profile and change the password to prevent illegal access. After that, you will be able to make payments for change of course/institution on the portal (if desired).
Note that email address that was used for previous UTME will not work. If you registered for the examination last it is strongly recommended that you create a new email for your profile this year.
