Oluwo, Akire Lay Private University Foundation, Teaching Hospital in Ikire (Pictures)

The duo of the Oluwo of Iwoland, HIM Oba (Dr.) Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi and the Akire of Ikire Ile, HRM Oba Olatunbosun Adebanji, today, laid foundation of a private University in Ikire Ile of Iwoland.

Laying the foundation, Oluwo lauded the anonymous facilitator represented by Mallam Lekan Adiat, saying Ikire Ile is one of the promising domains with visionary monarch in Iwoland.

The institution "Mercy University" has gotten the nods of concerned bodies with structural works commenced today. 

Oba Akanbi enjoined citizens and residents of Ikire most especially Olatunbosun's contenders to cooperate with the monarch and be part of history facilitated by the ancient throne.

He further commended Akire for protecting Ikire land, saying only a myopic kings will sell his cloth (land) for peanuts.

Speaking, Akire described the project as timely and an indication that God is with Oluwo, for, the project came at a time the federal government approved a Federal College of Education for Iwo.

Oba Olatunbosun stated the hospital is strategically positioned to link Ikire to neighbouring towns within Iwoland.

Representative of the donor, Mr. Lekan Adiat, stated the standard and capacity of the teaching hospital section of the university to be named "Mercy Teaching Hospital" will be third standard in Nigeria when completed. He said the hospital will be next to UCH and LUTH. 

Speaking, the chairman of Ola Oluwa South Local Government, Hon. Adebiyi Adedayo, expressed his gratitude to God, the Oluwo and the Akire for their unrelenting commitments to taking Iwoland to a greater height. He pledged to always extend his usual royal supports and encouragement to royal institution. He described the reign of Oluwo and Akire as virile, full of hope, prayed for long live and prosperity for the crowns.
