In my last article i wrote about WAEC and about the Federal Government providing some specific guidelines for reopening of schools in the country. FG added that schools had been given till July 29, 2020, to ensure that their facilities are ready for resumption in line with the guidelines issued by the ministry of education for safe reopening of places of learning.
The government on March 19 ordered the closure of all tertiary, secondary and primary schools nationwide over the outbreak of the deadly virus in the country. It affected all stages of learning in the country, the tertiary institutions were among the stage of learning that were affected, I am in my final year in the university and i have two exam papers and an abandoned project i left behind, my project was to make cookies out of grasshoppers, imagine i have to start that all over again, i know lots of my tertiary comrades also have similar problems and issues.
Recall that The president of the ASUU union, Biodun Ogunyemi, announced An indefinite Strike before the pandemic closure was announced.
When we taught we had seen light when FG promised to sit and communicate on resumption day of all school of learning on 29th of July, ASUU president brings more bad news, He said in an interview today on premium times that school is not resuming anytime soon for universities, infarct even after the pandemic, we shall still stay at home. He said A few days after the government’s directive, ASUU commenced an indefinite strike, which is still on. Should the federal government eventually ask schools to resume, university administrators will comply, but Mr Ogunyemi’s explanation indicates the lecturers will not be resuming classes until ASUU’s concerns are addressed. Somebody should help me tell asuu that we have suffered enough, if ASUU is truly in our aid they should ignore this one, We do not deserve this.
