How Atiku Abubakar's Father Was Jailed For Not Sending Him To School

Former Nigerian vice president, Atiku Abubakar has revealed how his father was sent to jail for failing to send him to school. The PDP chieftain disclosed this on Friday while delivering a speech at the Baze University graduation ceremony in Abuja.

The PDP chieftain however, revealed that his father later embraced the idea of education. But that was after he had spent some time behind bars.

Furthermore, Atiku revealed that he lost his father when he was 11 years old. He drowned and died while crossing a river in their neighbourhood.

The former Nigerian vice president also used the opportunity to admonish the graduating students to use their education and privilege to help others, saying without education, he might not have gone this far in life.

Atiku said a lot of things during the event but the major focus of this article is the 'jailing of his father' as stated above.

If not for that event, Atiku Abubakar might not have been educated today. This goes a long way to show that every parent should endeavor to provide education for their children.

It doesn't have to be in an expensive school or a private school, we have public schools where the kids can learn without having to pay a lot as school fees.

As a reader, what do you have to say about this?
