I Was Asked To Teach Mathematics In Fulfulde Language At Katsina
Mr. Aniefre Idiok has recounted how a secondary school principal where he served his one year National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) at Katsina state asked him to teach SS2 students mathematics using Fulfulde language.
Idiok explained that the students do not understand English which made the principal appeal to him to use Fulfulde in teaching the students mathematics so they can understand what he is teaching them.
Although Idiok did not disclose the school, said when it comes to daft students, he ranks north highest in Nigeria.
“Imagine the principal of a school telling me to use Fulfulde to teach mathematics as most of them can’t understand English”
“I then asked the woman, please madam, who am I? She replied, you’re a youth carper, I then asked her from where? She replied from Akwa Ibom”
“I then asked her, madam please can I still use Fulfulde to teach mathematics. She replied, “I’m sorry Corper Idiok for my shortsightedness”.
