The ministry of information has through its director of information, Ben Bem Goong issued the statement that the ministry gives school owners up to 29th July to meet the laid down guidelines for it to reconsider opening the schools.
It will be recalled that the same ministry has come out to declare that the schools will not be reopen against its earlier directive that WAEC examinations will be conducted from the early August through September.
The directive stopping the opening of schools by the minister of Education Adamu Adamu has created public outcry by the parents, students, National assembly and even some state governors.
Bem clarified that the information was given by the state minister of education, Hon Emeka Nwajiuba after consulting with the Nigerian Center for Disease Control, Federal ministry of health and other stakeholders.
The school owners are enjoined to meet the guidelines, take self assessment and send their feedbacks to the state ministries of education for onward communication and deliberations.
Finally the federal ministry of education has bowed to the pressures from different quotas.
